The respect of the professional secrecy between the lawyer and his client is one of the essential guarantees of the rule of law. The CPP also provides for the withdrawal and immediate destruction of any communication between an accused and his lawyer discovered by the criminal authorities (art. 271 CPP). If the facts discovered were to be true, this would be a serious infringement of the rights of the defence. Such a drift of the criminal authorities should not exist in Switzerland. We strongly support the lawyers of the defendants who have discovered their word in the proceedings!
